In less than 20 days, yet another member of the Doddmane, Dr Rajkumar’s family, will officially step into the world of cinema. Niveditha Shivarajkumar, the daughter of Century Star Shivarajkumar, will present her maiden feature film production, Firefly, through her banner, Shri Mutthu Cine Services & Productions, in theatres on April 24. The film is the directorial debut of actor Vamshi, who is also playing the lead in it, as Vicky, an award-winning Maths teacher, who despite his quirks and people around him, is troubled by acute loneliness.
In a teaser that the team had revealed months ago, when Firefly was meant to be a Deepavali 2024 release, audiences were introduced to Vicky, a very melancholic guy. Taking this forward is the song Helu Helu Neene Jeeva from Firefly, a lyrical video of which was released on April 5. Composed by Charan Raj, Helu Helu Neene Jeeva has been written by Dhananjay Rajan, every line highlighting the emptiness in the protagonist’s life. Keshav Unnikrishnan and Madhuri Sheshadri are credited for vocals of the song.

Two weeks ago, the team had released the first single, a light romantic number In the Night, featuring Vamshi and Rachana Inder. The film also stars Achyuth Kumar, Sudharani, Sheetal Shetty, Sunder Veena, among others, while Shivarajkumar has a pivotal cameo, as a pizza delivery agent. The film is hitting theatres on the late matinee idol Dr Rajkumar’s birth anniversary, a special day for the family.
Firefly will be Shivarajkumar’s second onscreen appearance of the year, since he’s been on a break following the release of Bhairathi Ranagal. He has a cameo in Ravi Basruru’s Veera Chandrahasa too, which comes out on April 18. His return in a full-fledged role will be in August, when Arjun Janya’s directorial debut, 45, hits screens. The Century Star had wrapped up the shoot and dubbing of the film before heading to the US for treatment of bladder cancer.
