Hemanth M Rao reviews Roopanthara, says look out for…

Raj B Shetty broke into the Kannada film industry with Ondu Motteya Kathe, produced by Suhan Prasad of Mango Pickle Entertainment. The banner’s next presents yet another new filmmaker, Mithilesh and his hard-hitting film Roopanthara on July 26, which, Sapta Sagaradaache Ello maker Hemanth was privy to get an early viewing of.

Having seen the film, Hemanth could not keep quite, even though Roopanthara is still a week away from its date with audiences. Taking to social media, the filmmaker, who is busy with the prep work for his next directorial, Bhairavana Kone PaaTa, was all praise for Mithilesh the “fab” writer and director for making a “beautiful” film. Roopanthara, said Hemanth, is a film that’s not to be missed in theatres and mentioned that if there’s one actor to look out for, it’s GB Bharath.

5 stories and a journey of metamorphosis

Roopanthara, according to Mithilesh, is a film set in Bengaluru, with characters he has written based on his experiences in the city over the years. Contrary to earlier reports, the film is not an anthology; although there are 5 distinct story arcs and characters within. At some point, these characters cross each other’s paths and become the catalysts for change for some of them. That, said Mithilesh, is what Roopanthara is about.

According to Midhun Mukundan, who has done the music for the film, Roopanthara is a study of human experiences, wherein Mithilesh has explored what it means to be and grow as a human being. This is the essence that his music also had to encompass, making it an enriching experience for him too.

Initially started in 2021, Roopanthara took a while in the making and now, Raj, who is also a part of the cast and has served as dialogue writer and lyricist, is presenting the film in theatres through his banner, Lighter Buddha Films. The film has competition from two other promising Kannada films – Family Drama and Kenda – on the 26th.
