In the last few days, there were reports that filmmaker Hemanth M Rao’s next would be with Karunada Chakravarthy Shivarajkumar, which both parties had alluded to, but the official announcement came today. Hemanth will write and direct an action drama that will be produced by a first-time producer, Dr Vaishak J Gowda, as his banner Vaishak KJ Films’ maiden production. Only days ago, Hemanth had taken to social media to announce that he’s begun work on #5, indicating his fifth as a filmmaker.
It was earlier thought that the filmmaker, who is fresh off the intense love story Sapta Sagaradaache Ello, would make a sci-fi film next, but he’s instead looking at doing an action-packed period drama. Speaking to HT, Hemanth had said that he was looking at presenting Shivarajkumar in a never-before-seen avatar.
The important question, of course, is as to when this project will go on floors. The Century Star is still working on Bhairathi Ranagal, the prequel to Mufti, as well as composer Arjun Janya’s directorial debut, 45, with Upendra and Raj B Shetty. He is also committed to doing at least 2 more films with Ghost director MG Srinivas, namely Ghost 2 and the Dalavayi Mudanna spin-off. In fact, after the release of Ghost, Shivarajkumar had said he was keen to get started on the sequel as soon as possible and that he wanted to knock off some weight for the role.
There are other films as well that have been announced on the actor’s birthday over the last few years, including the Inspector Vikram sequel, IV Returns, a film with Lohith H called Satyamangala, an untitled venture with Sudheer Chandra Film Company. In 2022, there were announcements of films with Tejasvi Nag, Sachin B Ravi, Kotresh Chapparadahalli, Karthik Adwait, among others. Sachin has taken this project and revamped it for a Bollywood project with Shahid Kapoor now.
In 2023, he had announced collaborations with Krishna Ajai Rao and Ganesh, a Tagaru sequel, as well as films with Ram Dhulipudi, KS Ravikumar, R Chandru (Kabzaa 2), among others.
