It is time to celebrate, Henry Cavill fans!

In an interesting twist of fate, after his rather unceremonious exit from DC Universe as Superman, Henry Cavill is now one of the main contenders to take on the role of the iconic character: James Bond.

The media reports suggesting Cavill is the frontrunner for being the next James Bond started shortly after he was dropped by DC as Superman. According to Forbes, these unconfirmed reports are based on Cavill's statement from the first half of this year where he revealed that he had auditioned for the classic role in 2005 and was the second choice to Daniel Craig, who went on to star in four of the franchise movies since 2005.

Another media report suggested that the favourite choice for the Bond role, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, is facing some stiff competition from Henry Cavill.

According to Metro, William Hill, the world's biggest bookmaker, said that Aaron is still in the lead with odds of 6/4 but Henry is now the bookies' second-favourite with odds of 3/1.

"Another twist in the search for our next James Bond has seen Henry Cavill's odds slashed after the actor revealed he will not be reprising his Superman post in the early hours of Thursday morning. His price of 6/1 to land the role has been halved to 3/1 overnight, with punters clearly working out that he will now have some free time on his schedule," Lee Phelps, a spokesperson for the bookmakers, said in a statement to the media.

Henry Cavill is also known for his role as Geralt of Rivia in Netflix's 'The Witcher'. However, Cavill left the show after the third season.
