The actor portrayed the role of RM Veerappan in the Hindi version of the biopic
Raj Arjun is known for his choice of diverse characters from movies like Secret Superstar and the recently released successful movie Shershaah. Recently he appeared in the Hindi version of Thalaivii in the role of the right hand of the late actor and Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, MG Ramachandran (played by Arvind Swami). The actor shared details on his introduction to the role of RM Veerappan.
According to a Pinkvilla report, Raj Arjun mentioned that director AL Vijay cast him as the infamous character after viewing several of the actor’s earlier craftwork, including Secret Superstar. Thus, the filmmaker trusted Raj to do justice to the role. With the help of casting director Mukesh Chabbra, they were able to convince the producer to cast him in the role of RM Veerappan. The Tamil version of the character was portrayed by Samuthirakani.
Talking further about his rapport with Vijay, Raj mentioned that their relationship started developing when the director worked with his daughter Sara in her first ad and subsequently in the Vikram starrer, Deiva Thirumagal. “I have done quite a few films with Vijay but they were small roles. I didn't work with him enough but our bond still remained the same,” Raj Arjun mentioned. The actor continued to praise Vijay for his simplicity and down-to-earth personality.
Talking about his upcoming projects, Raj Arjun shared that he will be featuring in a pivotal role in Love Hostel, which is helmed by Shankar Raman and backed by Drishyam and Red Chillies. It also stars Vikrant Massey, Sanya Malhotra and Bobby Deol in crucial roles. His other outing will be Yudhra, which stars Siddhant Chathurvedi and Malavika Mohanan in lead roles. It will be directed by Ravi Udyavar and bankrolled under Excel Entertainment.
Meanwhile, you can catch the Hindi version of Thalaivii on Netflix. The Tamil and Telugu version will start streaming on Amazon Prime from October 10.
