Kamal Haasan had hinted yesterday while wishing the film's director a happy birthday. He had written on his social media in Tamil, which translates to, “Let’s take pride as ‘Indian.’ Together let’s achieve more (sic)." Music for the film is by Anirudh Ravichander, marking his second collaboration with Kamal Haasan after If the buzz in the industry is to be believed, the shoot for Kamal Haasan's upcoming film, Indian 2 is all set to begin by the end of August. The film, directed by Shankar, is a sequel to the vigilante thriller Indian (1996). The work on the long-pending film had begun in 2019, but the shoot came to a halt after a freak fatal accident on the sets. Later, the pandemic delayed the shoot and then, Kamal got busy with the action entertainer Vikram directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.

Kamal Haasan is in the US for the prep work on the film. We hear that in the meantime, the team has erected a huge set in Chennai and that the shoot will begin next week. Earlier, there were rumours doing the rounds that Kajal Aggarwal was not part of the film after she got pregnant and had her first child. However, the actress recently clarified on an Instagram chat that she was very much part of the film and that she was about to join the sets soon. 

The film is said to have an ensemble star cast including Siddharth, Karthik, Bobby Simhaa, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Guru Somasundaram, Delhi Ganesh, George Maryan, Manobala and Samuthirakani. While veteran actor Nedumudi Venu and Vivekh, too, were part of the cast, their portions had to be reshot due to their demise.

Vikram. While cinematography is by Ravi Varman and Rathnavelu, editing is by A Sreekar Prasad. The film has been bankrolled by Lyca Productions.
