Since Stree (2018) became a surprise box office success four years ago, it has been a common question among movie fans when the sequel to the film will come out. In some ways, the Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor movie elevated the horror-comedy subgenre in Hindi and gained a devoted fan base. Even though rumours of a Stree 2 sequel have been going around since last year, the latest news is that Amar Kaushik will start making the second movie in March 2023.

The director has been busy with Bhediya for the past few months, but now he is giving it his full attention. Pre-production for the Delhi-set movie has already started. A source told Mid Day that unlike Stree, which spent a lot of time in Chanderi and Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, this film's story takes place in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Beginning in Delhi and its environs, the movie will be filmed in four different cities. After that, the group will go to Uttar Pradesh for a demanding month of activities. The final draft of the script is done, and Amar is in the process of securing the three locations that will be used as the background.

Stree was praised for its themes of feminism and gender role reversal and focused on a witch who is thought to kidnap men at night. Rajkummar and his friends Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee set out to find out if the story was true after they thought a strange woman, played by Shraddha, was the witch. Pankaj Tripathi probably won't be in the sequel, even though the other three actors will be back in their roles. However, there may be a new cast member.

According to the source, Varun Dhawan will make a special appearance. Amar and the writers have added his character from Bhediya, which brings together two different kinds of "horror comedy."
