Celebrated television actor Rithvik Dhanjani, who is the host of the new dating show Datebaazi, says that the concept of the show is real and that is brings in an element of freshness.

What sets it apart from other dating shows is the involvement of the parents of the two people on a date. Before a boy and girl meet, they have to meet and impress their perspective date's parents. And it is the parents who get to choose three dates (out of eight options) for their children.

The show is created by Frames Productions. Ranjeet Thakur, co-founder of the company, had earlier said, "We are delighted to bring this social experiment to the audience. Datebaazi is a show that both young adults and their parents will relate to."

Talking about the essence of the show, Rithvik said, "Datebaazi is very different from other unscripted shows, as its foundation is both fresh and true. Think of the Gen-Z dating game as it is in present day — swipe right, swipe left."

Describing it as a powerful way of choosing a romantic partner, the actor-anchor also added, "Generally, you can decide what you want, how you want it, what you like and don't like, and everything else. Now, imagine if I take this power away from you and give it to your parents, leaving you powerless."

As the involvement of the parents is crucial in any traditional Indian family, it is interesting how the participants of the show try hard to convince their parents to choose the person they want to date. "This is extremely amusing, because the question is if the parents know their children or do they just believe that they do? It's a lot of fun, which is what makes this show special," Ritvik signed off.

Datebaazi is streaming on Amazon miniTV and on Fire TV.
