Here’s why Tejaswini Kolhapure feels theater is home to her

Even though Tejaswini Kolhapure may have been an industry insider, but, the fact remains that has never been the typical ‘filmy’ kid. After having started her career with modeling, she went onto become one of the finalists at the much-coveted ‘Miss India’ competition. Not just she participated in the competition; she also went onto win the ‘Miss Photogenic’ title that year. This was followed by her working as a fashion writer for a popular movie magazine. Being the proud discovery of the late actor-filmmaker Satish Kaushik at a Filmfare a ward night, Tejaswini Kolhapure went onto do a serial called ‘Mujhe Chand Chahiye’, which became the stepping stone for many of her forthcoming projects.

When asked about her love for theatre, pat came the reply, “Theatre is the best form of on-ground training. During the rehearsals, one has to work on memorizing dialogues, the gait, the posture, voice, timing everything within a stipulated time frame. Post which, there are no cuts on stage, its live and the feeling and emotions are inexplicable. Each show turns out to be different from the other and then there are the critics to give you live feedback. If you crack a joke and the audience doesn’t laugh, or if you cry and they don’t empathize, you know right then and there, that you haven’t stirred the right emotion”.

Tejaswini Kolhapure added, “The adrena line rush to perform in theatre is incomparable. Even though it’s been several years since I have performed on stage now, I just can’t wait to get back on it". When asked about her inspiration and her guru, she replied, “My ‘Guruji’ is the renowned theatre personality (late) Pandit Satyadev Dubey ji, under whom I learnt the nuances of acting, which has and continues helping me immensely in my career.

Tejaswini Kolhapure, who is awaiting the release of her film ‘Paanch’, was last seen in the short film – ‘Trust Me’, which was released on the OTT platform Disney + Hotstar.
