A full-on commercial entertainer, Hero, set to hit theatres on January 15, marking the acting debut of Ashok Galla, nephew of actor Mahesh Babu and veteran star Krishna's grandson. Nidhhi Agerwal plays the female lead in the film helmed by Samanthakamani fame-director Sriram Adittya and produced by Padmavathi Galla under Amara Raja Media and Entertainment. The cast and crew of the film, Ashok Galla, Nidhhi Agerwal, Sriram Aditya, Jayadev Galla, Padmavathi Galla and Adiseshagiri Rao, came together for a press meet held in Hyderabad today.
“I have been waiting for the release of Hero with bated breath. It's certainly a dream come true moment for me. We're all the more excited to bring this move to audiences during the Sankranthi season. I am grateful to the fans of Krishna and Mahesh Babu for showering their love upon the rap song. It has given us more energy and confidence about the film. We have all worked like a family for Hero. I hope we hit the bullseye at the box office and the audience appreciates our efforts on January 15," Ashok Galla said.
Nidhhi Agerwal said that Ashok Galla is by no means a newcomer and stated he's a very talented actor and a gifted dancer. "It didn't at all feel like Hero was his very first movie. He pulled off the role efficiently. Director Sriram Aditya is a complete perfectionist and you'll realise it when you watch the film. Though I am playing a doctor for second time in my career after iSmart Shankar, my character in Hero is poles apart from it,” she added.
The director Sriram Adittya stated that it was producer (brother of actor Krishna) Adiseshagiri Rao who pushed the team to release the film for Sankranthi. "I have been waiting for release for long and we’ve seen many films getting postponed in the recent weeks. Given the fact that it’s a wholesome entertainer, Sankranthi is a perfect time to watch Hero. Audiences will have great words of praise for the performances of Jagapathi Babu and Naresh in the film," he mentioned.
He further added that Ashok's smile and screen presence gave him a lot of confidence when he met Ashok for the first time. "Yet, he surprised me with his performance and you’ll all notice it next week. I can assure you all that Hero wouldn't look like Ashok's first film at all. He handles humour with ease and is a brother to me. There were many positive vibes during the shoot and there will be a lot of whistle worthy moments for Krishna garu's fans. It’s a perfect festival movie.” Ghibran has scored the music for the film.
