Baggy clothes, stringy hair and a dorky attitude – not quite exciting, isn’t it? However, when the clothes are revamped and the hair is cut short, boom! A hot and happening person may be hiding under it. Set on this premise, He’s All That is a teenage romance starring Addison Rae and Tanner Buchanan in pivotal roles. Reimagining the original plot of the 1999 teen classic She’s All That, the movie is a twist on the cliched tale with a simple change - the gender flip.

Addison Rae will be playing the role of popular teen influencer, Paget Sawyer, while Tanner Buchanan is essaying the character of high school dork, Cameron. On discovering that her musician boyfriend Jordan, whom she transformed into a star from a nobody, is cheating on her, Paget vows to rebuild her image and accepts a challenge to repeat history. She decides to do it all over again, by turning her school’s biggest loser into the upcoming prom king.

In a surprise to fans and as a reference to its predecessor, we also catch a glimpse of Rachel Leigh Cook in the trailer, who had played the lead role in She’s All That. In this upcoming movie, she will be seen as Padgett Sawyer’s mother, as she tries to guide her daughter through turbulent teenage love. Another delightful cameo would be that of Matthew Lillard, who is very briefly seen dancing during the prom scene.

Keeping the basic idea intact, the movie would be a spin on the original story of rediscovering oneself with a warm fairytale ending. However, whether it repeats the same mistakes as the previous one or tries to be closer to reality this time, would be worth a watch. Directed by Mark Waters, He’s All That is set to arrive on Netflix on August 27.
