Hiccups & Hookups promo: Alok Nath makes his OTT debut, returns in his 'sanskaari' avatar

Hiccups and Hookups is India's first Lionsgate Play original, featuring Lara Dutta Bhupathi, Prateik Babbar, and Shinnova in the lead roles. Now, the makers have unveiled one of the important supporting characters from the series. And it's none other than veteran actor Alok Nath. The actor who is known for his "sanskaari" role continues his feat in Hiccups and Hookups too. Lionsgate Play unveiled a new promo featuring Nath.

In the video, he is seen visiting Lara and Prateik's house in Bengaluru. While doing so, he says the word "sanskaari" repeated and even asks the Dhobi Ghat actor to create an app on Hindu rituals. They even play passing the parcel post their lunch session. The video has all of them having a double meaning and no filtering conversation.

While sharing the video, Lionsgate Play captioned it as "Bacho, don’t stress anymore because mamaji is in B’lore."

In the series, Vasudha, played by Lara Dutta, is reclaiming her life after 40 years of separation. She is trying to be sexually adventurous for the first time in her life as she navigates the difficult terrain of dating as a woman in her 40s.

"I had a ball of fun essaying Vasudha on-screen," Lara says of her character. The actor shared that it's an empowering sensation to play a 40-year-old lead on screen. The idea that Lionsgate Play opted to present the narrative of a 40-year-old lady and highlight topics that are forbidden or otherwise go unspoken was intriguing to her. 

Lara also said that Vasudha's character has numerous levels, and she is incredibly sympathetic due to the situations and scenarios she finds herself in. The actor is looking forward to seeing how the audience reacts to the series.

While Akhil, the CEO of a dating platform, is played by Prateik Babbar, who is a cool cucumber. He's open to dating, but he's not looking for a long-term relationship. He's young, yet beneath his icy façade, he's a man with a golden heart. When it comes to his sister and niece, he is always there for them no matter what. His only battleground is his emotions.
