Anand Deverakonda, brother of actor Vijay Deverakonda, has been steadily making a mark in Telugu cinema with his distinct choices like Dorasani, Middle Class Melodies, Pushpaka Vimanam. After Middle Class Melodies, he is all set for another direct-to-OTT release in his career, Highway. The film is a psychological thriller written and helmed by cinematographer-turned-filmmaker KV Guhan. Saiyami Kher, Abhishek Banerjee, Manasa too play important roles in the film.
Highway will skip theatrical release and premiere on the Telugu OTT platform aha directly. The aha original also has a release date - August 19. Venkat Talari is bankrolling the film. The film is thriller revolving around a photographer Vishnu (Anand Devarakonda), who falls in love with Tulasi (Manasa), a girl who has remained in a cocoon all her life. A mysterious serial killer D kidnaps Tulasi. Vishnu joins hands with a cop Asha Bharat (Saiyami Kher) to seek answers.
The film's teaser was unveiled by aha yesterday. In the glimpse, Vishnu is a photographer who's desperate for love. He is smitten by a girl, who accompanies him in a journey along with a friend. 'Some journeys lead to disasters,' the teaser suggests when the girl is kidnapped by a hard-core criminal. Why is the psychopath after the girl and why is he desperate for revenge? Abhishek Banerjee, in the end, tells a woman that she should consider herself lucky to die in his hands.
The thriller is produced by Venkat Talari. KV Guhan believes that audiences today relate to content regardless of language and are open to concept films, new experiments, and novel thoughts. "That's when I narrated this idea to Anand and Abhishek and they said yes. The story has many characters with different shades and unique twists and turns," he adds. Highway can be watched in 4k ultra-HD quality on aha with Dolby audio experience.
