You heard it right, How I Met Your Mother is getting a sequel, and according to the lead actress Hillary Duff, it is going to be legen-wait for it-dary!

Talking to Variety, she said, “I knew I had to be the one to bring Sophie to life and share the female POV to this legendary show.”

All HIMYM fans are well aware about how the show started and ended with Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) telling his kids about how he met their mother. While telling them the story, he ended up also informing them about every important person in his life, which includes Robin (Cobie Smulders), Barney (Neil Patrick Harris), Lily (Allison Hanningan), Marshall (Jason Segel) and Tracy (Cristin Milioti).

With How I Met Your Father, Duff, in the role of Sophie, will introduce her son to his father. The first season (of 10 episodes) though, is going to keep the mystery alive. Fans have been guessing that the father could be Barney, who once boasted that he might probably have to father a lot more kids than he knows. However, the original plot showed Barney with a daughter named Ellie, while Sophie would be talking to her son. It would, thus, be interesting to see how the show connects to the original sitcom.

One thing similar to HIMYM is the fact that Sophie will figure out dating along with her group of friends. This time, however, since the show is set in 2021, it will be in the times of dating apps and easy availability.

How I Met Your Father is being created by This Is Us presenters, Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger.

Duff is currently completing the shooting for the final season of her show, Younger. She has also started prepping for HIMYF simultaneously.
