Rajavardan, the son of veteran actor Dingri Nagaraj, who debuted as a leading man with the 2020 film Bicchugatti: Chapter 1 – Dalavayi Dange, a historical period drama , got his third release with Hiranya, an action thriller in which he played a hitman. Released in theatres in July 2024 to middling reviews, the film, which also stars Rihana, Divya Suresh, Huli Karthik, Dileep Shetty, among others, has finally got a digital partner.

Hiranya dropped on Sun NXT on March 15, making it the fourth Kannada film to have been added to the platform in recent times, following Dhanveerrah’s Kaiva, Prajwal Devaraj’s Gana and Dharma Keerthiraj’s Tenant. Hiranya, directed by debutant Prawin Avyukth, is available with Kannada audio only. It was Rajavardan’s first film as an action hero.
In the film, Rajavardan played Raana, a hitman for hire, who is contracted to kidnap or kill a newborn baby. For reasons that are unveiled in the film, the baby is in danger, after her father, a wealthy man, mysteriously perishes in a car accident, while the mother’s life is also at risk. When Raana gets hold of the baby, he decides to finish the job, but then stumbles upon information that not only makes him change his mind, but also turns him into the little one’s protector.
When the film released, the actor received praise for his performance, especially in the action blocks, of which there were plenty. However, some critics pointed out that given that the actor was supposedly holding a baby in most of these stunts, several of the moves were implausible.
Rajavardan, who has since been seen in the sports drama Gajarama, which released earlier this year, was recently quoted as saying that his filmi connect has not been of much use to him. As an actor’s son, he did not get a red carpet welcome into the industry and has been surviving in the industry only on the strength of his talent.
