The Sanderson sisters are counting down the days until they can make their return to the mortal world again. Hocus Pocus 2 is on the verge of finishing production and star Bette Midler has completed filming her scenes on the same.
The actress took to her official Twitter handle to make the exciting announcement. Her post accompanied a photo of art that featured the trio of witch sisters reading from a spellbook, surrounded by the green haze that accompanies their sinister dealings.
The upcoming film is a sequel to the 1993 cult classic. Set in Salem, Massachusetts, it told the story of the Sanderson witch sisters who are summoned almost three hundred years after their execution, when a young boy unwittingly lights a black flame candle on Halloween night. Although the film was unsuccessful with critics and at the box office, it gained huge popularity among audiences especially during Halloween time, with fans and the cast pushing for a sequel. The sequel was confirmed in 2019 and went into production last year.
The sequel will see Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy reprise their roles as the Sanderson sisters. Whitney Peak, Lilia Buckingham, Belissa Escobedo, Doug Jones, Tony Hale, Sam Richardson, Hannah Waddingham, Juju Brener, Froy Gutierrez, Taylor Henderson, and Nina Kitchen are also featured in the film.
Hocus Pocus 2 is directed by Anne Fletcher, popular for helming romantic comedies such as 27 Dresses and The Proposal. Jen D'Angelo serves as writer on the upcoming film, which is produced under the banner of Walt Disney Pictures.
The Disney Plus original film is slated to be released some time this year.
