The black flame candle has been lit once more to usher in the return of the bizarre Sanderson sisters yet again. The forthcoming sequel to Hocus Pocus has revealed the list of its full cast as well as a short teaser trailer.
The teaser, which was dropped on the official Twitter handle of Disney, shows a candle burning brightly with a black flame; the focal point of the events which took place in the first film. The caption makes mention of Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy reprising their roles as the witch sisters. In the comments the rest of the new cast who will also feature in the film is revealed.
In addition to the three main leads, the film will also star Whitney Peak, Lilia Buckingham, Belissa Escobedo, Doug Jones, Tony Hale, Sam Richardson, Hannah Waddingham, Juju Brener, Froy Gutierrez, Taylor Henderson, and Nina Kitchen.
The 1993 fantasy film was set in Salem, Massachusetts and follows the story of a young boy who unwittingly summons a trio of sinister witches on Halloween night. Although the film was not a hit with critics or audiences at the time, it went on to gain cult status.
Its popularity soared during annual Halloween celebrations in the United States due to the spooky nature of the film.
Talks of developing a sequel to the film started in 2014, with it being confirmed in 2019. Anne Fletcher, who has helmed popular romantic comedies such as 27 Dresses and The Proposal will direct the sequel.
Hocus Pocus 2 will premiere on Disney+ in the United States in 2022.
