The project, which is touted to be a social thriller is helmed by Anush Mohan, revolves around the corrupted legal system of the country. Recently, leading man Roopesh Peethambaran took to his social media handles and confirmed that Hodu is set to have a direct OTT release soon.
Hodu – When and where to watch
As per the latest reports, Hodu is gearing up have its OTT release on January 22, 2024. The movie will exclusively stream on the popular OTT platform iStream. However, so far only the Anush Mohan directorial is only releasing in Malayalam. More details, including the OTT release time are expected to be out very soon.
Roopesh Peethambaran, who is all excited about the release of Hodu, took to his official social media handles and shared a special post. In his note, the actor-filmmaker admitted that the premise of the film has some similarities with Jana Gana Mana, the 2022-released Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer which is helmed by Dijo Jose Antony. “#JanaGanaMana was commercial, Hodu is real and raw!! Hodu is extremely close to my heart from one of the most promising debutant director Anush Mohan. Streaming only on iStream from 22.01.2024,” reads Roopesh’s post.
All about Hodu
As per the reports, the social thriller is set in the backdrop of a fictional town named Hodu (which is the Hebrew name of India), and the local police station. The police arrest four youngsters for gang-raping and murdering a minor girl. Simultaneously, a commoner is arrested on a petty case. However, things take a drastic turn when the cops are forced to release one of the rapists due to external pressure.
Roopesh Peethambaran plays the central character in the movie, which stars Harikrishnan Sanu, Sarath Vadi, Visakh, and others in pivotal roles. Syam Ambadi is the director of photography. Dheeraj Sukumaran has composed the music. Sarath Geeta Lal handles the editing. Hodu is bankrolled by KL 01 Cinemas.
