Chorabali, the story of the seventh season is deemed to be the best as per Anirban Bhattacharya.
Back on October 14, 2017, the well-loved truth-seeker or Satyanweshi as he is known in Sharadindu Bandopadhyay’s literary world of the iconic Bengali sleuth, debuted into a series. Ace actor Anirban Bhattacharya took up the role with aplomb and in the six series that were to follow, he made the role his own.
Hoichoi announced the 7th season of this show. Byomkesh, among many other shows, were announced as a part of the OTT platform's season 5. Anirban and Byomkesh fans are in for a surprise for the new case on Byomkesh’s block.
Here's a look at the announcement:
Soumik Halder has helmed the series. The cast, apart from Anirban, includes Ridhima Sen, Arjun Chakrabarty, Chandan Sen, Ushasi Ray and Suprobhat. The latter was last seen in Anjan Dutt’s Murder in the Hills.
Byomkesh season 7 is based on the popular Byomkesh story, Chorabali. In an interview with The Telegraph in July, Anirban opened up about the series. He had termed Chorabali to be the best Byomkesh story, while also saying that many deem Pother Kanta or Durgo Rahasya to be the best. The shoot for the Chorabali was especially exciting for him as the team was going for an outdoor shoot for the first time.
Anirban went on to add that he read the story first in school and the shoot had him re-read it. He familiarises himself with the literary work of where a movie is sourced from to discover whether ‘he can get any new element’ that could enhance his acting.
The actor, who was recently seen playing a resident criminologist in Birsa Dasgupta’s psychological thriller Mukhosh, also added that he clearly remembers the shooting experience of the first season of Byomkesh. He had got a fever and was anxious about the first day, but things fell into place on the day. “We had to shoot in a lot of places around the city, but I still remember the first day of that shoot,” he had told the daily.
More details on the new season are awaited.
