Nicole Kidman’s upcoming film Holland is one of those that’s part of her mission to work with a woman director every few months. The thriller film, directed by Mimi Cave, which pairs Nicole with Succession actor Mathew Macfayden, is set to premiere at the South by Southwest film festival on March 9, following which it will debut on OTT.
Holland is coming to Amazon Prime Video on March 27, 2025, ahead of which, the streamer released a trailer. Kidman is Nancy Vandergroot in a small midwestern town, who suspects her husband, Fred (Macfayden) of living a double life, only to find out that things may be worse than she imagined. Nancy is a teacher, while Fred is the local preacher. When he takes off on a ‘business trip’ to Greenville, albeit for one night only, she teams up with colleague Dave Delgado (Gael Garcia Bernal) to investigate, only to find out sinister stuff about the town that’s her home.

In the trailer, Nancy initially says that when she looks around, it’s like a dream – just perfect. And then she says that while it seems that they have it all together, right under the surface, it’s like they are being strangled. Fred’s statements, that it is important for him that Nancy feels safe and that the best part for him is to make up a story and control everything, while carefully placing toy models of people in what seems to be a miniature version of the town, hints at something manipulative.
Determined to follow the clues, irrespective of where they take her, Nancy realizes that when what she finds out comes out, their lives will be ruined. Holland, which has been written by Andrew Sodorski, also stars Jude Hill, Rachel Sennot, Lennon Parham, Isaac Krasner, Jacob Moran and Jeff Pope, among others.
