Hombale Films to back #Kiccha46; Sudha Kongra to direct?

The two most speculated movies in Kannada cinema right now are #Yash19 and #Kiccha46. While Yash, who has done three films with Hombale Films, including the KGF series, is reportedly moving away from the banner, the buzz now is that Kiccha Sudeep is set to swoop in and take up the now vacated spot. There have been multiple rumours and reports surrounding Sudeep’s next, called #Kiccha46, a project that the Kannada superstar is yet to confirm.

During the promotions of his last release, Vikrant Rona, Sudeep had repeatedly said that he was keen to collaborate with director Anup Bhandari again. The duo had announced another film, Billa Ranga Baasha (BRB) before Vikrant Rona, but decided to with the latter first. They’d also said that a film based on the mythological character Ashwatthama was in the works, but as of now, BRB is what they want to do together. In a recent conversation with OTTplay, Anup had said that pre-production on BRB was on and that he’d need a few months’ time to put things in motion.

In the meantime, it was said that Tamil filmmaker Venkat Prabhu, of Maanaadu fame, was also ready to make a film with the actor. In fact, netizens widely believed that #Kiccha46 could be with him, but then Venkat is currently busy with Naga Chaitanya’s Custody, so a collaboration with Sudeep is going to take time. This is when a third possibility popped up. One that is highly likely too.

According to the latest buzz, Hombale Films is set to back Sudeep’s next, a development that one reckons is highly possible, given the actor’s growing friendship with Karthik Gowda of KRG Studios, who was one of the promoters of the last season of the Kannada Chalanachitra Cup and has been a staunch supporter of the Sandalwood team at the recently concluded Celebrity Cricket League as well. Netizens have been putting two and two together and speculating that if Hombale Films is indeed producing #Kiccha46, they already have a filmmaker on board. The banner had announced a collaboration with Soorarai Pottru filmmaker Sudha Kongra long ago, but since then, there has been no word on what this project will be and when it will take off. The best bet, it would seem is that Sudha will helm Sudeep’s next.
