Aha is back with yet another original series, Home Town. The series has been in the news for a long time and is finally set to stream on April 4, 2025, on OTTplay Premium. Produced by Rajsehekar Medaram, the show's trailer is now out, giving a glimpse into the life of a small-town family where a middle-class father dreams of sending his son to the U.S., while the son has no such aspirations.
Rajeev Kanakala plays the father, marking the first time he is portraying a role set against a Telangana backdrop. His character is depicted as a determined dad who is constantly pushing his carefree son, played by Prajwal Yadma, towards academic success. The series, set in a small Telangana town, highlights the struggles of young students who lack interest in studies, with Prajwal and his friends embodying this narrative.
Adding to the entertainment factor is the chemistry between Prajwal and Annie, which brings a fun element to this romantic drama. However, the core of the show revolves around the father’s relentless ambition to send his son abroad. Veteran actress Jhansi plays the mother, a character who opposes the idea of youngsters leaving India and instead encourages them to build their future at home. This conflict is presented in a lighthearted yet thought-provoking manner.
Following the success of Sivaji's #90's, Home Town is another series that delves into the emotions of middle-class families and coming-of-age themes. Directed by Sudhakar Reddy, the series effectively portrays family emotions with a realistic touch. Suresh Bobbili has composed the music, while Deep Dev has handled the cinematography.
Although the plot may seem simple, the makers ensure that the blend of comedy, emotions, and authenticity makes it a wholesome family watch. Home Town is one of those rare series that takes a grounded approach to storytelling, featuring relatable characters from society. The series consists of seven episodes and will be available for streaming at a special price on OTTplay Premium. Stay tuned for more updates on this much-anticipated project.
