Produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra, and directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, the film has now been chosen as India's official entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 2026 Academy Awards. Homebound is a 2025 Hindi film by director Neeraj Ghaywan, starring Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa as two friends, Shoaib and Chandan, who come from impoverished, marginalized communities in North India and aspire to join the police force for dignity and upward mobility. Their dreams are challenged by societal barriers of race and religion, as well as the devastating nationwide COVID-19 lockdown, which forces them to face the reality of their situation. The story is an adaptation of Kashmiri journalist Basharat Peer's 2013 New York Times article, "Taking Amrit Home".

As per the official posters of the film, Homebound will land on Netflix after its theatrical run. It is expected to be available digitally in November 2025.
