On May 5, Saas Bahu Aur Flamingo is scheduled to debut on Disney+ Hotstar.
With films like Being Cyrus (2006), Cocktail (2012), and Finding Fanny (2014), director Homi Adajania carved out a niche for himself among urban multiplex-goers. Now, he's getting ready to launch his first web series, Saas Bahu Aur Flamingo. It differs from his earlier works in that this time, he went far into the hinterlands to portray the tale of a group of women who manage a drug cartel and are linked together by familial ties.
However, the one constant in his filmography is the seasoned performer Dimple Kapadia. Being Cyrus, Homi's debut film, marked the beginning of their collaboration as a director and actor, and she has since appeared in all of his productions.
While talking about her and everyone's characters in the show, Homid Adajania, in an exclusive conversation with OTTplay said, "Even though Savitri (Dimple) got her Apple watch around her wrist, she's got the technologies, she's got the CCTV view of her entire kingdom, she doesn't want the fancy mattress, she still wants to sleep on the floor, she likes accessories that are from her own space of world that she did not have when she was younger. But she does not want what urban people would want. its not that she would want the designer bag. In that sense they are very rooted in their world and this is what they will die to protect and they don’t want to be anyone else. They don’t want to be accepted by outside society."
Elaborating further, the director explains one of the scenes and continue saying, "in fact there is one scene where Savitri says that what the hell will people in the city ever understand of what are lives are about, how will they understand what our struggle is about, so they can judge us but they dont have to balls to come into our kingdom because then they will have to live by our rules."
