Popular playback singer Jonita Gandhi has turned into an actor with Walking Talking Strawberry Ice Cream. Directed by a newcomer Vinayak, a former associate of Vignesh Shivn, the film is said to be a romantic drama. Shot in and around Chennai, cinematography is by Sai, who had earlier assisted Rathnavelu.

Taking to Instagram, Jonita Gandhi wrote, "So I did a thing... Say hello to Piku! Watch out for my appearance in Walking Talking Strawberry Ice Cream. It's a small but fun role and I hope I didn't suck at it. Such a fun experience with a lovely team. Happy to add a checkmark beside 'act in a film' on my bucket list!"

She's leading the film along with actor Krishnakumar Balasubramanian who was seen in Soorarai Pottru. This one is produced by filmmaker Vignesh Shivn and actor Nayanthara's home banner Rowdy Pictures.

"WTSI introducing the very famous, pretty, and extremely talented Jonita Gandhi as an actor this time in our dearest film from Rowdy Pictures," Vignesh Shivn, said when introducing the playback singer, as an actress.

Malti Chahar will play Anamika, while Riya Suman will play Ketika. According to character posters, Vaishnavi and Rachael will play Sangamithra and Tejon Maya.

Arjun Chandy composed the music for Walking Talking Strawberry Ice Cream, and R Kalaivanan edited the film.

Speaking on some of the challenges that playback singers face these days, Jonita, in an interview, said, "I believe that the industry has welcomed a large number of newcomers, which is a good thing. There are so many people making it big today, but it also brings with it stiff competition. The challenge, in my opinion, is to find your distinct voice and carve out an identity for yourself to stand out from the crowd."

Further, she added, her dream is to work on more original content. "This year will see the release of two films by me. I'm creating content for my YouTube channel. I think it's a fantastic platform for singers to express themselves in whatever way they want. It's where I first started getting noticed by people from all over the world."
