In a recent episode, Sankar’s brother questioned the necessity of providing money to the women in the house. While retaliating, Aishani said that they need money to buy sanitary pads, at the least.
Horogouri Pice Hotel has so far maintained its position within the top 10 on the TRP list. Aishani (Suvosmita Mukherjee) and Sankar’s (Rahul Mazumder) family are thoroughly troubled by his brother – played by Rahul Arunodoy Banerjee. In a recent episode, Sankar’s brother questioned the necessity of providing money to the women in the house. While retaliating, Aishani said that they need money to buy sanitary pads, at the least.
In that dramatic episode, other women fearfully agree to not take any more money. But Aishani protests. She says that girls have menstruation every month and they need sanitary pads. This needs money. Hearing this, the family members get scandalised. Then Aishani says, “This is not a matter of shame. New lives are born because girls have menstruation.” She said that this is not a dirty issue, but rather needs awareness.

There are many taboos in our society regarding menstruation. Even today, sanitary pads are wrapped in a way so that they stay hidden. One cannot enter temples or offer puja during the period of menstruation. These are looked upon as shameful in our society. The popular Star Jalsha serial Horogouri Pice Hotel now shows a special episode to break the stereotype.
People on social media lauded the episode. One woman wrote, “Let open discussions take place on the subject. Let the sanitary pads be sold openly, not covered in newspapers.” Another one wrote, “For the first time, a serial shows a healthy mind. It is a wonderful message.” The serial, produced by Jisshu Ujjal Sengupta Production House, is also doing well in the TRP. It is shown every day at the 10 pm slot.
