Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly has renewed his OTT bond with Disney+ Hotstar with Finals director PR Arun’s upcoming web series titled Pharma. The long-format project will mark the Premam and Thuramukham actor’s web series debut.
Touted to be a drama, the series will also mark the Malayalam comeback of Bollywood actor Rajit Kapur after a gap of almost 25 years. His previous Malayalam movie was Shyamaprasad’s Agnisakshi that also starred Shobana, Srividya and Praveena.
Hotstar greenlights web series starring Nivin Pauly
Nivin’s OTT debut, Kanakam Kaamini Kalaham, had also premiered on Disney+ Hotstar. This is also the first time that a leading star from the Malayalam film industry has signed a web series in the language. Dulquer Salmaan had made his web series debut with the Hindi project, Guns and Gulaabs, which is currently streaming on Netflix.
Though PR Arun’s web series’ title Pharma belies a subject connected to the medical industry, the makers are yet to reveal what the project is about. Pharma also boasts of a talented crew featuring composer Jakes Bejoy, cinematographer Abhinandan Ramanujam and editor Sreejith Sarang. The makers have also promised several surprise additions to the cast and crew of the Hotstar Special, which is expected to go on floors soon.
Nivin Pauly to come back with a bang
Though Nivin was part of several acclaimed films such as Thuramukham and Padavettu in the past few years, a superhit has been eluding the Premam star. His latest release, Ramachandra Boss & Co, which had hit theatres during Onam was also a box-office failure.
The actor is currently gearing up for the sequel of Abrid Shine’s Action Hero Biju, which will see him reprise the role of the protagonist cop. Nivin also has Ram’s Tamil movie Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai coming up. The makers had recently unveiled his character’s look from the movie.
Nivin is also set to play an important role in Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Varshangalkku Sesham, which will go on floors at the end of this month. The film also has Pranav Mohanlal, Kalyani Priyadarshan and Dhyan Sreenivasan as part of the cast. The actor has also wrapped up the majority of his portions in Dijo Jose Antony’s yet-to-be-titled film.
