Lady Gaga, who plays Patrizia Reggiani in Ridley Scott's upcoming directorial, said she stayed in character for about nine months.

“It is three years since I started working on it, and I will be fully honest and transparent: I lived as her [Reggiani] for a year and a half. And I spoke with an accent for nine months of that,” Gaga told British Vogue. “Off camera, [too]. I never broke. I stayed with her.”

Elaborating on her method acting for the role, Gaga said she instantly dyed her hair to be closer to the character, and " I started to live in a way whereby anything that I looked at, anything that I touched, I started to take notice of where and when I could see money."

The singer-turned-actor added that she tried to take on Reggiani's interests like photography. For that she took her camera everywhere she went. Gaga said that in her learning about the character she realised that Reggiani gravitated towards "beautiful things." Gaga said that if any photo she took on her own was not beautiful the way Reggiani would have seen it, she instantly deleted it.

In order to get Reggiani's character right, Gaga worked on learning the Vignola dialect, then worked her way up to the way people from a higher class speak. She said that in the film it can be observed that her character's accent and dialects waver according to whom she talks to.

Gaga also addressed Reggiani's ire on taking on the role without consulting with her first, and said that she could only truly approach the character as a blank slate without anyone telling her who Patrizia Gucci is.

House of Gucci is Gaga's second feature film role after A Star is Born, where she shared screen space with Bradley Cooper. The upcoming biographical drama also stars Adam Driver, Jared Leto, Salma Hayek, Jeremy Irons, and Al Pacino in pivotal roles.
