After a six-year hiatus, the Housefull series is back for a fifth instalment, and fans are anticipating a fresh take on the trademark humour and confusion that has made the series famous. Housefull 5 is a big-budget comedy that will premiere in theatres around the world on June 6. Starring Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, and Abhishek A. Bachchan, the film trailer has been finally unveiled. Interestingly, Housefull 5 introduces an unconventional format, showcasing two distinct endings at separate theatre times.
In the trailer, we get a taste of the murder mystery that takes place on a lavish cruise liner, where the three main characters played by Akshay (Saugandh), Abhishek (Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai), and Riteish (Masti), all assert their claim to being the legitimate heir to a fortune. The next morning, they find themselves in jail, accused of murder, after a wild night with enhanced beverages leaves them with blurry memories. To find out what happened, two investigators, played by Sanjay Dutt (Rocky) and Jackie Shroff (Hero), are hired.
London, France, and Spain are just a few of the foreign locales visited by the protagonists before the story circles back to the United Kingdom, where the inquiry is ongoing.
Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Nana Patekar, Chitrangada Singh, Fardeen Khan, Chunky Pandey, Johnny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Dino Morea, Ranjeet, Soundarya Sharma, Nikitin Dheer, and Akashdeep Sabir are all part of the film's extensive ensemble cast.
Produced and written by Sajid Nadiadwala under the aegis of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, Housefull 5 is directed by Tarun Mansukhani.
The idea to have two endings was made by Nadiadwala, who explained that he has been thinking about the story of Housefull 5 and having two different climaxes for the last 30 years. The filmmaker finished writing Housefull 4 three or four years ago, and then the idea for his thriller finally occurred to him. He has always wanted to do one. This is Nadiadwala's lifelong ambition realised; he penned the screenplay and story. The unique selling point of this film is that each episode will have a different killer and climax.
He continued by saying, "Imagine a 3pm show having one ending and the 6pm show having another – this is happening across single screens and multiplexes. Housefull 5 is a true killer comedy. Writing it gave me sleepless nights, but also a lot of joy. Once the script was ready, bringing Akshay and Tarun Mansukhani on board and others made the journey even more fruitful."
By reuniting beloved franchise actors with a fresh murder mystery plot, Housefull 5 hopes to shake up the comedy genre and provide viewers with chuckles and, depending on their showtime, surprising plot twists.
