Hridayapoorvam brought together Mohanlal and Sathyan Anthikad almost after a decade, and it has indeed turned out to be special. The feel-good Malayalam film, which hit theatres for Onam, finished second among other festive releases. Now, Mohanlal has said that Hridayapoorvam made Rs 100 crore at the cinemas, terming it a family blockbuster. Though Mohanlal has several 100 crore films in his filmography, it is the first such achievement for veteran director Sathyan Anthikad.

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal took to social media on Wednesday to thank the audience for the love and support they have shown to his latest Malayalam film Hridayapoorvam. The iconic actor, who was recently conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, posted the heartwarming note on Twitter along with a poster of the film grossing over Rs 100 crore.
Sathyan Anthikad, who has delivered several hits with Mohanlal, has helmed Hridayapoorvam, which has now marked his entry into the Rs 100 crore club. Sathyan Anthikad’s last film release was the 2022 film Makal, starring Jayaram and Meera Jasmine. The veteran director-superstar collaborated for Hridayapoorvam after a 10-year break. Gandhinagar 2nd Street, Sanmanassullavarkku Samadhanam, and Nadodikkattu are some of their popular films, that still hold a special place among Malayalis.
Mohanlal’s third hit of the year
Mohanlal opened his box office stint this year with Empuraan, which literally stirred up things both inside and outside the cinema halls. Helmed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, Empuraan faced much backlash but still made Rs 266.81 crore, which was the highest at the time. Mohanlal followed up Empuraan success with Thudarum, which also had a blockbuster run with Rs 235.38 crore. Now, with Hridayapoorvam also in the Rs 100 crore club, as per the makers, the Malayalam superstar has a hattrick of hits.
But as per industry tracker Sacnilk, Hridayapoorvam has made Rs 75.68 crore in worldwide collections.
Hridayapoorvam features a lively cast led by Mohanlal, Sangeeth Prathap, Malavika Mohanan, and Sangita Madhavan Nair, along with Siddique, Lalu Alex, and Janardhanan, among others. Hridayapoorvam is set for its OTT debut soon on JioHotstar via OTTplay Premium on September 26, 2025.
