The incredible cast of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, an eagerly awaited Amazon Original series, travelled to Mumbai for their grand Asia Pacific Premiere. The cast, including Robert Aramayo, Charles Edwards, Nazanin Boniadi, Lloyd Owens, Sara Zwangobani, Maxim Baldry, Megan Richards, Tyroe Muhafidin, Ema Horvath, and Markella Kavenagh, attended a press conference ahead of the grand event, where they were warmly welcomed by The Lord of the Rings fans, Hrithik Roshan and Tamannaah Bhatia.
Bhatia expressed her passion for this fantastic universe, "Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has a cinematic appeal that is one of its own kind. I keep going back to it over and over again, and yet it seems so fresh. It is truly visual storytelling at its best. Irrespective of the book or the screen adaptations that have been made, it is so engrossing and captivating that it takes you to another world. That is what I feel is the most enchanting thing that I find about ."
Roshan remarked, as a real fan of this amazing universe, "I think that pretty much speaks for itself. This is the kind of stuff that I aspire to; it just does something for me. It's a visual extravaganza when you create content. I'm just excited and thrilled that I'm going to be able to watch the Middle Earth premiere on September 2."
The actor shared an anecdote stating, "I also have a little thing to say that there's a little connection between me and The Lord of the Rings. I don't think anybody knows. Randomly, way back in 2004, my dad put on The Lord of the Rings Part 1, went on to complete the trilogy, and then he gave me a call. He was just talking about ways to use this one great, incredible idea and had this progression, which was so incredible, and why can't we do that? So I said, 'Okay, what are you talking about?' He said, 'Why can't we make Koi Mil Gaya, which is one of our previous films, and have the progression?' and we secured it. And that was the birth of Krrish. So if there is no The Lord of the Rings, then we won't be having Krrish. So I am going to take this opportunity to thank The Lord of the Rings for making this happen. "
Showrunner J. D. Payne said that he first learned about Tolkien through the Peter Jackson movie. They were one of the few movies that touched him when he was in his twenties. He was forced to read all the novels because of the way those movies were done, and he got into them. Now that these books have been ingrained in his life, he seldom ever goes a day without bringing them up in conversation. The maker feels like Frodo holding the Ring if something is happening in his life. He includes these quotes in eulogies and speeches for weddings and funerals. Tolkien's spirit has therefore become a part of his life.
Talking about the cast, Payne said that Patrick and he were aware that the casting was crucial because their narrative was incredible. It is the Second Age tale that Tolkien never revealed. So, they are narrating the tale of how the Rings of Power were created. For their casting, they had two requirements: first, the actors had to be excellent performers; and second, they had to have a sense of Middle-earth about them. When the viewers look at them, they should have the impression that they have travelled directly from Middle-earth to our world. They held hundreds of auditions for every single part over the course of a year and discovered 22 needles in a very large haystack!
On September 2 and every week until October 14, Prime Video will stream two episodes of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
