The new dark comedy Mess is Prime Video's newest Indian original movie. After the completion and imminent release of their high-stakes thriller series, Storm, this project represents the second big endeavour between the global streaming behemoth and Hrithik Roshan's production house.
Mess takes a twist on the classic home invasion thriller by following a group of misfits who break into a lonely man's house, thinking it will be easy money. But due to the homeowner's extreme OCD, the house becomes a highly organised maze with enormous stakes. The invaders become further ensnared in a psychological trap as the night wears on, with the "victim" holding all the cards. From the impending crime to the thieves' frantic fight for survival and escape from the building, the narrative pivots.
The film brings together an eclectic mix of international and domestic creative talent.

The critically acclaimed Crew and Lootcase director Rajesh A. Krishnan is helming the film. Paul Soter, an American writer and original member of the comedy group Broken Lizard (well known for their role in Super Troopers), wrote the screenplay. Kapil Sawant adapted the screenplay after previously working with Krishnan on the hilarious and conversation-heavy Lootcase.
Roshan said in a statement, "Storm marked the start of something special with Prime Video, and Mess feels like a natural next step for us at HRX Films." The actor is eagerly anticipating the next chapter of the story. As a result of their collaboration with Prime Video, they have been able to investigate daring, inventive storytelling, and this project is a wonderful example of that.
Roshan shared that as an innovative filmmaker and producer, Rajesh has a unique gift for combining comic elements with gripping storylines. Mess has been marked by his exceptional creative vision since its inception. Both Eshaan and Hrithik are incredibly thrilled about the possibilities this project holds as production begins to heat up. The actor thinks anyone who enjoys new, unusual stories that challenge the conventions of the genre would enjoy this film.
Krishnan, the film's director, spoke about the teamwork that went into writing the script and the intended tone change. The filmmaker remarked that working on Mess with Sawant has been an incredibly satisfying experience – it has been wonderful to work with him again. He shared that with an exciting blend of comedy and anarchy, the film's universe is strange enough to hold viewers' attention. Making this film has been an incredibly rewarding and enjoyable team effort.
With Hrithik and Eshaan's contributions of knowledge and conviction to the film, they have assembled an ideal cast. He couldn't be happier that our project has finally found its production home.
Mess is only the latest in a series of "digital-first" films that Prime Video is developing in collaboration with A-list artists to avoid the constraints of traditional theatre release dates. This is a giant step forward for Roshan as the producer, who has gone from being a fitness and lifestyle brand to a major player in the content industry. The "dream cast" that Krishnan stated is still a mystery, but filming is set to start in the second quarter of 2026.
