October 31, 2022. Remember the date, for this is when the world witnessed Huma Qureshi as Monica in her upcoming film Monica, O My Darling. Yes, the movie is somewhere inspired from Helen’s 1971 song. Huma plays Monica in the movie.

In fact, when the makers unveiled the trailer of the film, Piya Tu Ab Toh Aa Jaa played right at the beginning. You can guess it. The iconic song from Caravan is a part of Vasan Bala’s film.

At the trailer launch of the movie, Huma confirmed that this song is nothing but a new composition. She added that nobody can ‘even touch Helen ji.’

“It is our ode to the 80s and that kind of a song. We didn’t want to touch the original because that might have been a mistake,” Sonakshi added.

Vasan further said, “Sonakshi pointed out correctly. Of course, there’s retro. It’s a great throwback to the dances and the songs of that era. The idea is to be reverent and not remix it.”

Monica, O My Darling also features Rajkummar Rao and Radhika Apte in the lead roles. While Rajkummar plays a grey shade in the film, Radhika is seen as a tough cop.

The film sees Sikhandar Kher’s character as one of Monica’s victims. Of course, Rajkummar’s too, is a victim of her blackmail.

Monica, O My Darling features Akansha Ranjan Kapoor, Bagavathi Perumal, Sukant Goel and Zayn Marie Khan in important roles. The movie will start streaming on Netflix from November 11, 2022.
