Huma Qureshi is gearing up for the second season of SonyLIV's Maharani and is keeping busy with promotions for her show. In a recent interview, the actress opnedn up about the "negative" aspect of the discussion around Bollywood movies. The industry seems to be going through a rough patch of late, with many recent releases failing to make a mark on the box office, and calls to boycott many films on the rise as well.

In an interview with Puja Talwar, Huma claimed that everyone is hasty to criticise the Bollywood movie industry.

She stated, “Everyone’s become too critical, too negative. A few films have not worked and everyone is ready to write everyone’s obituary. Wait a while. Good films will come. Some haven’t worked, that’s okay.”

According to Huma, a majority of the current releases that have already hit cinemas were already in production well before COVID-19 outbreak, but the creators decided to hang onto them until release.

The Ek Thi Daayan actress went on to say, “You also have to understand that post-Covid-19, this is a fresh lot of films that have come in. All these makers, actors, producers have held on to these films for so long, not released them because of theatres. I mean we don’t even know the reality of how they were made, what happened. Let’s be a little kinder I think.”

Huma most recently appeared opposite Ajith in Valimai, a movie that fared well in Tamil Nadu but not so well in the Hindi-speaking region. According to trade expert Girish Johar, who earlier spoke with Indian Express.com, the material of Valimai is familiar to the Hindi audience. Girish also discussed the hard-core commercial entertainment with speedily fight sequences that Bollywood has been producing recently. He continued by stating that the Hindi Belt is also introduced to Hollywood-style filmmaking. It was just another typical film for the Hindi market.

On the work front, Huma's forthcoming movies include Tarla, Monica, O My Darling, and Double XL. She is rumoured to also appear in Heeramandi, a film by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
