During The Hollywood Reporter India's Roundtable interview 2025, Huma Qureshi was informed that Maharani Season 4 is the top show on SonyLIV in 2025 (OTTplay Premium), as per Ormax Media. Reacting to it, Huma said that when Season 1 came out, the whole team was ignored by a lot of English media, and they were very depressed, and they were not sure whether they would get another chance to do another season. However, later the verdict was unanimous because it was loved by the people and they started getting calls from everywhere, who praised the series.
"Maybe it was seen as too vernacular, maybe we were not cool enough, or whatever it is, I don't wanna dissect it because that's not important for me, but what is important is that we got year after year to make the show that is so loved and popular. I got calls after having Delhi Crime Season 3, saying, 'Now I am also going to watch Maharani.' I am happy we get to make this show year after year, and I get to play this character, work with incredible actors."
Huma Qureshi on playing Rani Bharti without making the character boring
She praised the team behind the series, such as the director, producer, writers, creators, and others. Huma highlighted that it never reflects in their writing that they are judging the female protagonist or coming from a male gaze and the lens is very, very progressive.
"The writing of Maharani has not got its due because its so progressive and I feel all the voke conversation that we keep having. This is the show that speaks to the masses. It is speaking to the people where the change is required and not speaking down to them," she said.
