At the end of 2021, Huma Qureshi and Sonakshi Sinha were featured in the teaser for Double XL, a film that debunks the notions of size and body-shaming. The film makes a powerful point about how one's weight and body type do not define one. Although Huma and Sonakshi have established a niche for themselves in the industry with their films, they have not been without their share of setbacks. Both have been fat-shamed and mocked for their weight and, on occasion, their fashion choices.
Huma has already spoken out against preconceptions about the ideal body type and advocated for body acceptance and self-love. The actor told The Times of India that she doesn't want to over-explain but she is really proud to link herself to this film. Huma shared it when asked if the two of them were actually the inspirations behind the narrative written by Mudassar and directed by Satram Ramani.
The actor said that it doesn't matter who you are or what gender you are, we live in a culture where we enjoy putting others down. Huma added that Mudassar is responsible for the film's concept and plot. He's the one who came up with the concept and wrote the script.
The Maharani actor went on to say that Sonakshi and she are good friends, and they have both experienced a lot of hate and trolling throughout their careers. Although others have said hurtful things about both of them, they are still here, doing things, and flying high.
In the film's teaser, they deliver a fitting answer to trolls and people, and that is the concept underlying the entire film. One doesn't believe in someone else's definition of beauty.
Huma is also a producer on this film, and she says that while she is looking forward to her new role, she does not want to act in every project she produces. She said that she wants others to headline initiatives, and when necessary, she wants to front a story as well.
Huma is looking for unique stories that break the mould. One of the stories she is thinking about questions the concept of marriage and how women, in particular, are conditioned to believe that they must be married and established by a certain age. With excellent friends, a sibling, and a family, the actor believes in living a complete life.
She is content with her life and grateful for those around her. Huma said that she is at a good place in her life right now.
