Mangalavaaram is Payal Rajput's latest release. Dinsey + Hotstar has bagged the streaming rights to the Ajay Bhupathi crime thriller
Mangalavaaram is Payal Rajput's latest release which ended as a decent hit at the box office. The theatrical run was affected a bit due to the last stages of the Cricket World Cup 2023. But still, the makers landed in a profit zone thanks to the OTT rights of the film.
We at OTTplay have already reported that Hotstar has grabbed the OTT rights to the film and Mangalavaaram started streaming on December 26, 2024. The streaming rights were bagged by Hotstar for a whopping Rs 9 crores which is quite high for a low-budget film.
Now that the film is out, varied reactions are coming out on social media and most of them are positive. On the other hand, Payal Rajput is quite thrilled that she has made a solid comeback and says "I am happy that Mangalavaaram is finally out on OTT and a wide range of audience will get to see my work across the globe. I played a very unique role and I hope that a few audience who did not understand the basic issue with my character watch the film properly and then come to a conclusion".
With Mangalavaaram, she has made a strong comeback to Telugu cinema. Ajay Bhupathi was the one who introduced her to Tollywood with RX100. Ajay Ghosh and Krishna Chaitanya played key roles in this film which had music by B. Ajaneesh Loknath. Priyadarshi was seen in a special role in this film and his character was kept in suspense for the audience. Ajaneesh Loknath's BGM was also a talking point all over.
Ajay Bhupathi is a very talented director who made heads turn with his first film. Now that he has made a solid comeback, we need to see what kind of film will he make next. Watch this space for more.
