I will celebrate Puneeth Rajkumar by watching James in a theatre: NTR Jr

Interestingly, it is the star’s RRR that is taking away screens from the late Power Star’s last commercial film, given that close to 2,000 shows have been allotted to the SS Rajamouli directorial in Karnataka.

In the last few days, NTR Jr has been very busy promoting his upcoming release, the SS Rajamouli directorial RRR, which also has Ram Charan in the lead. The film is set to hit theatres on March 25, and the team has been travelling across the country on a whirlwind promotional spree. The team was in Bengaluru too recently for a pre-release event, where NTR Jr, who is close to the Rajkumar family, spoke at length about the late Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar.

“Puneeth sir is never absent, he is always in our hearts. Puneeth sir is a celebration, so, even though the pre-release event is happening without him, he is always with us. He will be on that stage, standing beside us and blessing us, for sure. This is not a diplomatic answer. It is an answer filled with love, because I have known him. I was among the few people to have a beautiful love-filled journey with him,” NTR Jr, who has even sung a song, Geleya Geleya for Puneeth’s Chakravyuha, had said prior to the event.

In the same vein, NTR Jr added, “Due to hectic promotional activities of RRR, I couldn’t watch the movie. I will definitely make time to watch Puneeth’s James movie because he has left a big void. I have to enjoy watching him on the screen. I think we should always celebrate him by watching his movies more than missing.”

In Karnataka, though, it is RRR that is posing the biggest threat to Puneeth’s last film, James. In fact, with RRR set to get as many as 2,000 shows across languages in the state, the biggest loser has been James, forcing director Chethan Kumar to appeal to exhibitors to retain the film for a second week and allow fans to celebrate Puneeth Rajkumar one last time.
