ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 Points Table: Ahead of clash against Netherlands, where does India stand in Group 2

India played a last-over thriller game against Pakistan in their opening Super 12 clash of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

The Men in Blue went on to win the clash by 4 wickets. Batting first, Pakistan managed to score 159 on the board courtesy of the half-centuries smashed by Iftikhar Ahmed and Sham Massod. 

In the clash, India lost Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul early on. However, Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 82 and Hardik's 40 with R Ashwin's winning one run helped India seal the deal.

After the terrific win, where does India stand on the points table?

India is sitting in the second spot with Bangladesh occupying the top spot. While India won the first game, the Netherlands lost the game by 9 runs against Bangladesh. 

The Rohit Sharma-led outfit is below Bangladesh due to the Net Run Rate (NRR).

South Africa and Zimbabwe both sit in the third position as they had to share one point each due to rain.

Pakistan, after their loss against the Men in Blue, sees themselves take the fifth spot with the Netherlands at the bottom of the points table.

Part of Group 2, along with arch-rivals Pakistan, India will face South Africa, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, and the Netherlands.

The Rohit Sharma-led side will square off against the Netherlands in the Group 2 contest of the T20 World Cup 2022 on Thursday.
