Yami Gautam was at an all-time low when her movies did not work at the Box Office. The actress considered quitting acting and almost gave up. That is till URI happened to her. The Aditya Dhar film saved her in her professional life and now, as Article 370 has released in theatres, Yami gets all the praises. She is also expecting her first baby with husband, Aditya Dhar.
During her interview with Dainik Bhaskar, Yami had said that she would have quit acting if it weren’t for the success of URI. She also spoke about Bala’s success but the movie was not as big a hit as her and Ayushmann Khurrana’s debut film, Vicky Donor. The actress faced the crossroads in 2018, which was the second time after the initial struggle in her career.
If not acting, Yami would have switched to farming. She felt uncertain about acting and was considering the career switch. That is when her next film(s) were declared a hit at the Box Office and she continued acting.
Yami wanted to become an IAS officer. She started performing on TV shows which discontinued soon after. There were also times when she was removed from a show. This happened when she tried to understand a scene and raised questions. Apart from getting glares for trying to question the makers, Yami was also asked to go home while she was reading her script the next day. After struggling a little, she converted the feeling to passion towards her work, to keep going. The actress made her debut in 2012 with Vicky Donor. Co-starring Ayushmann Khurrana and produced by John Abraham, the movie turned out to be the trio’s dream debut. It was helmed by Shoojit Sircar and still remains iconic.
Today, with Article 370 released in theatres, Yami is getting all the acclaim she craved for all these years. The movie is produced by her husband Aditya Dhar, who had helmed URI. Not just on the professional front, Yami and Aditya are also happy on the personal front, for they are expecting their first baby soon.
