Rishab Shetty continues to win accolades for his 2022 seminal hit Kantara. Aside from representing the Kannada Film Industry Festival at the 54th International Film Festival of India or IFFI, the actor-filmmaker is now the proud winner of the festival's inaugural Silver Peacock Award.
Rishab Shetty's captivating performance in Kantara has been bestowed with the 'Special Jury Award' at IFFI, Goa. The award was announced earlier today, on November 28, with the official social media handle of the film festival making the announcement.
That isn't all. Kantara was also part of IFFI Goa's final list of 15 contenders for the Best Film or the 'Golden Peacock' award. The Kannada original is among the only three Indian films to make the nominations.
Kantara, of course, came as a passion project from Rishab's end who not only starred in the central role but also wrote and directed the film. While his work as a director earned him a lot of praise from across the country, one could say that his extremely potent and vigour-filled performance as Shiva elevated the film's quality and helped it reach the stature that it has to its name today. Alongside, the film's stellar success at the box office made him a household name across the country.
Buoyed by the incredible response, Rishab Shetty and producers have reunited to tell another piece of the 'Kantara' story. On November 27, the prequel project titled 'Kantara Chapter 1' was launched at a muhurtha ceremony and fans were also treated to the first-look teaser of the film.
Transporting us back in time, the narrative of 'Kantara Chapter 1' toggles between the past and present and delves deep into the folklore and mythology of the Uttara Kannada region.
