IIFA 2022 technical awards: Sardar Udham trumps with 3 wins, Atrangi Re bestowed with 2 trophies

On Thursday night, IIFA 2022 began with a star-studded performance showcasing some of the country's top musical talents and a fashion parade produced by Falguni and Shane Peacock, followed by the announcement of the first round of nine technical prizes.

At the concert, which was hosted by Farah Khan and Aparshakti Khurana, Devi Sri Prasad, the man behind the music of Pushpa: The Rise and KGF: Chapter 2, gave a powerful performance at the concert. Guru Randhawa, Honey Singh, Tanishk Bagchi, Neha Kakkar, Asees Kaur, Ash King, and Zahrah S. Khan also gave virtuoso performances.

While the host of the IIFA Awards night, Salman Khan, relaxed with Sara Ali Khan and Dhvani Bhanushali in the crowd, Jacqueline Fernandez and Ananya Panday dazzled on the runway.

The evening's high point was the announcement of nine technical awards, three of which went to Shoojit Sircar's Sardar Udham for best cinematography (Avik Mukhopadhyay); editing (Chandrasekhar Prajapati); and visual effects.

Atrangi Re, directed by Aanand L. Rai, received two awards: best choreography for the Chaka Chak song (Vijay Ganguly) and best background score (AR Rahman).

Shershaah, directed by Vishnuvardhan and starring Sidharth Malhotra, won the award for best script, given to Sandeep Shrivastava. Anubhav Sinha and Mrunmayee Lagoo for Thappad for the finest dialogue. for sound design in Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, starring Ajay Devgn and Saif Ali Khan. Ajay Kumar PB and Manik Batra for sound mixing in Kabir Khan's World Cup cricket drama, 83, starring Ranveer Singh.

The grand finale, the IIFA Awards, will be held on June 4. The main night will be hosted by Bollywood superstars Salman Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, and Maniesh Paul. Shahid Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, Kartik Aaryan, Sara Ali Khan, Ananya Panday, Divya Khosla Kumar, and Nora Fatehi will also sing at the gala.
