Agastya Nanda will play the titular role of a heroic soldier whose courage and sacrifice are etched in India's military history. The announcement video shows that the narrative is introduced through a heartfelt letter written during the Battle of Basantar in 1971. This letter, addressed to Arun Khetrapal's father, contains the terrible news that his son was killed in the war on December 16. The tone of the letter is both sorrowful and deeply respectful, expressing condolences for the immense loss.

Speaking about Ikkis, director Raghavan earlier told the Indian Express, “It is a war film, and it is a drama. It was a break from the kind of movies I was doing, and I wanted that, so that the next time I am doing a thriller, I feel fresh. That there is no baggage."

Meanwhile, Ikkis will be released in cinemas on October 2, 2025, coinciding with Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti.
