National Award-winning singer Iman Chakraborty came on social media Live on Thursday night and described the ordeal that she had to go through around the Regent Park area in Kolkata. A person made some lewd remarks to the singer. Later, cops from the Regent Park Police Station came to the spot based on Iman’s complaint. The accused person’s name is Ranjan Majumder.

Iman said that in a place in front of Nilanjan's house, they play badminton regularly. After that, they take tea at a roadside shop and buy fruits from a stall beside the tea shop. She was buying fruits on Thursday, and at that time a person was sitting beside the vendor and kept on passing remarks with sexual innuendoes towards Iman. Initially, Iman and her friends avoided it. But the person kept on staring at her. His eyes followed Iman even when they came back to the tea shop. Then Iman managed to get in the car. Nilanjan was with her at that time.

Iman said that the person was still standing, giving her a dirty glance. Iman came down from the car and asked him directly, “Will you tell me something? Why are you staring like this?” The person tried to bypass the topic but kept on glancing. Iman, being irritated and angry, complained to the police station and the police arrested the man.

Iman added, “To the girls who are watching this, please do not shut your mouth if something happens to you. Such incidents will rise if we stay mum. Please tell the administration and the police. I saw them helping. If someone touches you, you also retaliate.” She also added, “Why are the girls always judged based on their dress or their movements? Everyone said that this person is a lunatic. But he was not saying anything when a boy was buying fruits. And he named those fruits so that they carry a double meaning.”
