If there’s one name that remains supremely relevant on the internet and makes headlines for almost everything he does, it has to be Imran Khan. The actor, who returned to public consciousness with a bang after being on a long hiatus, is currently in the news for a variety of reasons. The biggest question right now revolves around his comeback to acting. But over a year ago, he was making waves for his personal life.
Imran was being talked about for his reportedly distressed relationship with his former wife, Avantika. The two, who fell in love when Imran was just 19, got married soon after and remained together for over a decade. Their decision to part ways came as a shock to many. Now, Imran Khan has opened up about what went wrong.

Katti Batti fame Imran Khan and Avantika got married in 2011 after dating for a while and being engaged for a year. The two were considered a power couple and even welcomed their daughter in 2014. However, five years later, in 2019, news broke that they had started living separately, with Avantika reportedly leaving Imran’s home. There was no official update on the reason behind their separation at the time, though it was later revealed that they had decided to file for divorce and were now co-parenting their daughter.
Speaking to Filmfare, the Luck actor opened up about the relationship, reflecting on its evolution. He shared that they began dating when he was just 19 and had entered the relationship with “all good faith and good intention.”
He added, “But as is sometimes the case with these kinds of long-term relationships, particularly when you start at a very young age, a lot of the interpersonal dynamics and patterns get set in how you were as a teenager. And as you grow, perhaps, all of those dynamics don’t grow and evolve enough. In some way, we were not supporting or empowering each other to be the healthiest version of ourselves.”
Imran Khan also opened up about his relationship with his daughter, who is now 10 years old. He revealed that they share a close and meaningful bond.
“My daughter and I have formed a tremendously close and open relationship, which is something that I have really wanted to grow and develop in that way,” he said.
“I wanted her to have a sense of comfort and security—to know that I am there for her, I’ve got her back. But also, I wanted her to feel easy and open about talking to me without the fear of judgment.”
