Imtiaz Ali has hinted that Rockstar sequel might be in the works. Back when the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer released, even though it generated enough buzz, the movie did not earn the Box Office collections as expected. Nonetheless, things are different now, and Ranbir Kapoor's character Jordan is finally as iconic as the movie's soundtrack. Having said that, Imtiaz has hinted that it might be time that the film gets a sequel. The question is, will it and if yes, when?
Imtiaz is very much open to Rockstar 2. He hinted about it during his recent interaction at Game Changers by stating, "Never say never. Ho sakta hai ki koi idea aa jaaye aur mujhe lage ki ye kahani, as a Rockstar Part 2 ya Rockstar thought, it might be nice," adding, "Kabhi aisa hota hai ke koi wild thought Rockstar ko leke aa jaaye."
It is quite possible that Ranbir Kapoor might be open to the opportunity for Rockstar 2. This is because there were hints of Rockstar's Jordan with his recent role in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal. The movie itself also became sensational for the intensity the character had, and the kind of emotions Ranbir brought forward with the role. Thus, yes, Ranbir could return as Jordan or a similar character, depending on the script. However, since Nargis Fakhri's character died in the original film, she is unlikely to return for the sequel, if it is ever made. For those wondering, you can catch up on Rockstar on Zee5 via OTTplay Premium.
Apart from the second installment in Animal Park (Animal Universe), Ranbir is working in Love And War. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film stars his real-life wife Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in the lead roles.
