Sarod exponent Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, his sons Amaan and Ayaan Ali Bangash and grandsons Zohaan Ali Bangash and Abeer Ali Bangash – twins of Ayaan – pay tribute to the 75th year of India’s independence in a soulful music video. The three generations play Vande Mataram in a melodious tune. The video has been posted on social media. Earlier, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan played Vande Mataram with his sons.

Talking about the video, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan said, “It is indeed such a historic moment. This special video titled ‘Three Generations One Nation’ pays homage to the nation, and for the first time, we are joined by the 8th generation of musicians of our family Ayaan’s 10-year-old twins, Zohaan Ali Bangash and Abeer Ali Bangash. It is an honour and delight for the three generations of my family to present this musical collaboration for our nation on its 75th year of independence.”

Meanwhile, Ayaan has sought blessings for his sons. He said that it is just the beginning of their journey. “It is indeed a momentous track as this is the first time my twins Zohaan and Abeer join us in the rendition. The ethos that resonates with the rendition is Three generations and One Nation. So this track has the five of us playing together for the very first time. Keeping our tour schedules in place, technology was a big help as I recorded the kids and me in Mumbai. Meanwhile, my father and brother recorded during a tour in Chicago. The music was produced and arranged by Sai Shravanam, and orchestrated by Shreyas Murali. It’s a start for the kids so they need all the love and blessings, especially on the occasion of India’s 75th Independence Day. Zohaan and Abeer are working hard but have a long way to go. My job is to teach them but eventually, they are free to do what they want and follow their dreams and passion. Music is the greatest wealth we have as a family,” he said.

Amaan paid tribute to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for our independence. “As I always say that it is an incomparable journey where the Guru leads you from the visible to the invisible, from the material to the divine, from the ephemeral to the eternal. It’s a blessing! We are blessed to have a right to speak and to be heard. A right that several brave souls fought for. Let’s take a moment to think of their sacrifice and what they had to pay for the freedom we enjoy,” he said.
