South Africa won the first cricket match against India by a big margin, taking a 1-0 lead in the series. India had a bad end to the third day, losing lots of players quickly and losing the whole match. Virat Kohli tried his best with a good score, but it wasn't enough to win. India's dream of finally winning a Test Series in South Africa seems far away now.

Scores

Each South African fast bowler seemed to have India's number. Nandre Burger took four wickets for just 33 runs. Kagiso Rabada, with his lethal swing, snagged two. Marco Jansen, the tall left-armer, mopped up the tail with three. With each dismissal, India's hopes are crushed in a painful defeat.

Virat Kohli was the only one who stood strong against South Africa. He made 76 runs with 82 balls before getting caught by Rabada after Jansen. India started their second innings with a score of 245 from their first try, but things went all worse. They lost Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, back-to-back. It was really a bad day for India!

Fans' reactions

A mixed bag of emotions flooded social media as fans grappled with India's defeat. Many shared heartfelt condolences, while others vented their frustration through anger. Some even suggested the BCCI consider imposing severe penalties, such as barring South African and Australian players from the IPL.

Some of the fans even pointed out that this loss dropped India down to fourth in the World Test Championship rankings. This makes it harder for them to qualify for the final. Some people think that the Indian cricket board might make the pitches for the upcoming England series extra helpful for India to win more matches and climb back up the rankings.
