Indian Idol is one of the most-watched television reality shows in India. Now, in the upcoming episode of the show, Sony Entertainment Television will be celebrating the first anniversary of Ranbir Kapoor's starrer Animal. To commemorate the special occasion, filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga will join as a guest.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga to grace Indian Idol 15
Indian Idol 15 will host Sandeep Reddy Vanga in the upcoming episode of the show where the filmmaker will share his inspiring journey from humble beginnings to becoming one of the most talked-about directors in the industry.
In the episode, when one of the contestants Myscmee reveals that she has watched Animal three times and is one of the biggest fans of Sandeep, she also mentions that her fellow contestant Manasi disagreed with the film's portrayal of certain scenes. Myscmee expressed frustration, saying, “I’ve tried to convince her about how Animal makes sense, but she’s not convinced. I want Sandeep Sir to explain it to her."
Manasi then tells Vanga that she had a problem with one of the controversial scenes in the film. "There’s this scene with ‘mera joota chato,’ and I personally have a problem with it, Sir," she says. Sandeep, visibly taken aback, shot back, “You have a problem with the joota chato scene, but no problem with the hero killing 300 people?”. Manasi responded, “Yes, there is a problem.”.

The conversation then takes a messier turn when Manasi mentions that Indian screenwriter, lyricist, and poet, Javed Akhtar's comments on that particular scene. She says, “Javed Akhtar said it’s dangerous for society, and I agree with him," to which, Sandeep responds, “If Javed Ji wasn’t a lyricist or story writer, I’d take his words seriously.”
Meanwhile, Animal starring Ranbir Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, and Triptii Dimri made Rs. 920 crore at the box office worldwide and became one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of 2023. The film was released in theatres on December 1, 2023.
