Netflix has a habit of backing true crime docu-series that offer the viewers a mind-chilling experience because of how real the crime and criminal can be. The streaming platform has now created something for the Indian audience to look forward to with Indian Predator - The Butcher of Delhi. The documentary's director Ayesha Sood has now opened up about why she decided to make the series and why it is a story that needs to be heard.
As reported by Outlook India, Ayesha said that though she considers herself a true crime nut and a resident of Delhi, she still did not know about the serial killer until VICE India, the producers of the series, approached her.
"On researching this case I realised that this is indeed an important story to tell. Our intent with this series was to give the viewers a ringside view to the journey of one of the scariest serial killers in Indian crime," Ayesha said.
She also pointed out that one of the hardest things to do while making the docu-series, which unravels through interviews and conversations, was to get people to open up on record because of the tragic nature of the crimes and because mostly people are wary about keeping photographic records of their lives.
Indian Predator - The Butcher of Delhi is a documentary that traces the story of a killer who used to dismember his victims’ body parts and scatter it across the capital. The series will be among one of the many in Netflix’s catalogue of spine-chilling true crime documentaries.
The docu-series is set to start streaming on Netflix on July 20, 2022.
